Wow! I have absolutely been neglecting my poor lonely little blog. I love living out in the country, but it definitely has it’s drawbacks. My internet connection never seems to cooperate. The only sites that are easy to navigate through are Facebook and emails. But I promise to make more of an effort here. I love the way my images look on the blog, much better than on FB. So… here I go, catching up! I’ll start with the most recent and work my way through the past…

Yesterday’s session in Rothenburg (I’ve been dying to shoot there, and I finally had my shot!). This family was awesome!

On Wednesday, I had an awesome session with some of my favorite people in Dinkelsbuhl…

On Sunday, I met this sweet family at Colmberg Castle for their shoot…

On Saturday, we dodged the rain in Lichtenau for this session…

On Friday, this family had me laughing so hard I almost peed my pants at the Hofgarten…

That morning my friend brought her new beautiful baby over…

Beautiful Maternity session at the Hofgarten on Thursday…

The first of my Hofgarten sessions from last week (Yes… I shot there 3 times!! But I believe we turned up with something different each time)…

The week before that I took this family out to Dinkelsbuhl also… it was such a beautiful day!

Took this awesome photographer and her daughters out for a sunny field session…

And… an incredible maternity session at Faber Castell…

That’s as far back as I can go for now! Hope you all enjoy them!!!
<3 Paige

Meghan emailed me immediately after we arrived in Germany when my husband joined her husband’s unit. Her emails were so delightful and welcoming. I was excited to find out that she was well on her way to popping out a 3rd baby boy! Yes… that’s right… a 3rd! Who would have guessed with how tiny she is! After discussing locations for a few weeks she told me about this gorgeous castle berg nearby. Not only did she have just about the most perfect mamma belly… but her choice in location was perfect too! I had so much fun acting silly with her boys and I think we got some great shots too! Thanks for the opportunity Meghan!!!

Look at that… 3 little trees… for 3 little boys :)

I’ve received several emails over the last few months from people wanting to learn this beautiful craft. I am incredibly honored and flattered that you have taken the time to compliment my work and ask for my advice. However, I just don’t feel like I am helping anyone with my responses. I’ve decided that the only way for me to help is by showing you. So… I will begin offering One on One Mentoring Sessions beginning in January 2012. I don’t promise to be an incredible teacher (I use words like thing a ma bob and whatcha ma call it). I just want to be able to offer what help I can to those who genuinely want it.

Basic Mentor Session (3 hours)…$300
In this session we will discuss basic camera settings (ISO, Aperture, and Shutter Speed) and how to combine them to achieve an accurate exposure. We will also discuss different lenses. Our discussion will be followed by a mini shoot so you can apply what you learned. Here I will show you how “I” use natural light and give you a few tips on posing and composition. A model will be provided. Next we will have a short wrap up where you can reflect on the session and ask any questions you may have. Again, I don’t promise to know all the answers, but I will answer your questions to the best of my abilities!

Processing Mentor Session (1 hour)… $100
This session is ONLY to be followed by the Basic Mentor Session. It is an add on option. You must have a basic understanding of how to achieve a good quality image SOOC (straight out of camera) before moving on to this session. Here, I will show you how to use the basic functions of Adobe Photoshop CS5. We will discuss RAW processing and how to fix minor imperfections using photoshop. This is just to give your images a little boost :) . It is not an in- depth class on photoshop. After all, processing in the end plays a huge part in defining our styles. So I want you to find the style that fits YOU.. not me.

These sessions are not meant to transform you into an amazing photographer. I am only offering them to give you a glimpse into my techniques. Please feel free to send further questions to pkimball@paigekimballphotography.com!

Hello Ansbach! Thankyou soo much for the warm welcome on facebook! I look forward to meeting and working with “hopefully” a lot of you! My name is Paige and I am a proud Army wife to a sexy Blackhawk Pilot and mother to a 12 yr old boy with a lot of character! We just PCS’ed here a little over a month ago and I am ready for your business!

I am a Custom Portrait Photographer with over 5 years of experience. When I started doing photography work, I taught myself what I could through online research and practice. I was fully self taught until I decided I needed something that would set me apart from the rest. I registered with one of the most well known art schools in the US (Academy of Art University). I like to say that I specialize in Couples, Maternity, Intimates and Teens. But… I will work with Families and children also. Children sessions are a little more difficult for me because I can’t always control the child’s mood or cooperation. But if we all go into it with an open mind, we are sure to get something we all can be satisfied with!

I’ve had a few inquiries on costs of the session and digital images. Yes… I do sell digital images! Most professional photographers do not sell digital images because we know that if you take our images to a kiosk somewhere or a one hour printer the quality of your print will be greatly diminished. But… I will provide you with a few online printing companies that I have worked with in the past that meet my expectations of quality. My session fee is only for my time and talent. It does not include prints or disks which may be purchased separately. For further information on costs associated with hiring a custom photographer, you can check out the investment tab on my website: www.paigekimballphotography.com Please let me know if you have any questions!

For now, take a look at a few sneak peeks from my very first session here in Germany!

I’ve taken a step away from Wedding Photography for a while. But in the mean time, I am still shooting a few Bridals here and there! Laura was an Amazing Bride! I’ve known her for a few years. She has worked so hard to make this wedding perfect for her and her soldier husband. Shortly after his return home they were married. Wish I could have made it to the wedding, but I know it had to have been something special! Here are a few of my favorites from our session at Cheekwood Botanical Gardens in Nashville! Thankyou Laura… for allowing me to have this part in your wedding! It was truly a pleasure!

April and I have had an incredible journey together. “I” think we’ve grown and matured together. April moved to Clarksville a little over a year ago about the same time my husband deployed. We did a little dabbling in wedding photography together and have since bounced ideas off of each other. Not only was she a great friend…but someone I could talk to when I needed “photography” advice. It was great getting to know you April, and I wish you lots of luck in your future endeavors!!! You can see more of April’s work at April Kitchin Photography.

April Kitchin Photography- Me 1

1. Tell us a little about yourself.

Oh boy where to begin… I grew up in a small town in Illinois. When I say small I lived in the country where I graduated from high school with 29 people in my class. After graduating from college I moved to Chicago where I lived for 7 years. After trying out many jobs I realized that I wanted to pursue a creative career and photography was going to be it for me. I have been working on my portfolio and business over the last 3 and a half years. In the meantime I have also taken a full time job in Nashville working on photo editing and file management with a company that works on the Victoria’s Secret catalog and web images. It has been such a great opportunity and learning experience and I’m excited to use that knowledge on my own work. I am continuing my own work part time here in Clarksville and am excited to meet and work with such wonderful people.

2. How do you describe your style?

I love photographing families and children in a natural light setting. Portrait style images are always great to have as well as lifestyle/photojournalistic images. Kids are only that age once so capturing their personalities as small children is so important.

3. What do you shoot with/what’s in your bag?

I’m a Canon girl all the way. I shoot with a Canon 5D Mark II and some of my favorite lenses are the 24-70 L Lens, 85 mm 1.8, and sometimes use a 100 mm L series macro.

4. Name one photographer as influenced you the most in your photography
journey.

Naming one is so hard! Some of my favorites are Simplicity Photography, Follow Your Art Photography, and Beth Jansen Photography.

5. What one piece of photography equipment would you purchase right now if
you could? (no price limit)

50 mm 1.2 lens

6. On estimate how many images are in your galleries?

I try so hard to narrow them down but usually end up between 30 and 75.

7. What fuels your passion for photography?

I have always love art and design, but what really fuels my passion is losing my brother 5 years ago to a car accident. You realize after you lose someone you love the important things in life. At the end of the day after you lose someone pictures are like gold and all you have left besides memories. Pictures become someones legacy long after they are gone.

8. Coke or pepsi…

Cherry Coke <3

9. What’s your favorite type of location to shoot at?

I love urban or country settings. Natural light is the best way to go!

10. What is your favorite time to shoot?

Early evening around 5:30 to 6:00 when the sun is starting to set.

Michelle is actually the girl that inspired this whole guest photographer thing. Check her out at Michelle Elise Photography. I met her right after John came home from the deployment, and we just kind of clicked. She helped me with a few photo assignments for class, and I photographed her delivery! One day Michelle was bored and wanted to play with her new lens. So I said… tag along with me on my session today. She jumped in her car and followed me out. It was fun having her there, and I wanted to display her work along with mine for the clients to see. And thus… the Guest Photographer blogs were born! I thought this would be a great way for my clients to find photographers to fit their needs since I am leaving. I hope it’s working… and these ladies are picking up some business from this. And I hope my clients are loving the referrals! And Michelle… you rock! Thanks for being there for me when I needed it!

You may recognize the name because her guest photographer session was actually a couple of months ago. But after re-vamping the whole idea, I decided I wanted to showcase the Photographer and not just their photos. So I added an interview and a headshot to the post! This girl is really amazing. About to pop any day now with her 3rd kid… but still going strong with her photography. She was great with the kids at our session, and I’m sure that has something to do with her incredible Mommy-skillz! You can take a look at her work by visiting Stephanie Mitchell Photography.

1. Tell us a little about yourself.
Where to start…I married my best friend 4 years ago ( june 2nd) and I am terribly outnumbered at home with two crazy little boys! We are adding another boy on June 13th , so I am big and preggo right now:) I absolutely love being a young mom and would not have it any other way! I love when my stepdaughter comes so I can have some more girl power around the house! Other than family my life is consumed with photography (just ask the hubs)…I seriously have dreams about photography and editing pictures and usually edit late at night because I can’t sleep after it.

2. How do you describe your style?
My style, I would classify my style as being mostly lifestyle with a touch of classic. I love capturing the everyday moments in my clients’ lives…hugs and kisses, little laughs and wrinkled noses. I also like to make sure we get a few more portrait style images to send to grandma and grandpa. I LOVE LOVE bright colors and different textures!

3. What do you shoot with/what’s in your bag?
I am a canon girl! I have a Canon rebel t2i. 50mm 1.4, tamron 28-75mm 2.8, and canon 55-250mm f4-5.6 IS. My 50mm is my LOVE and my go to lens, but I also use my tamron 28-75mm a lot, especially with sessions with little kids.

4. Name one photographer as influenced you the most in your photography journey.
Gosh there are so many! I really love the style of Meg Borders (Photography by Meg) her style and creativeness are just beautiful!

5. What one piece of photography equipment would you purchase right now if you could? (no price limit)
I am going to cheat on this…the Canon 5D mark II with EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II. They’re in my 5 year plan☺

6. On estimate how many images are in your galleries?
On my website I guarantee 15-35, but usually end up with about 30-35 or so.

7. What fuels your passion for photography?
My mood, my kids…the scenery…my clients…I really enjoy seeing the love and connections between families and siblings with each other and I strive to capture the real moments in life. It is a little overwhelming (in a good way of course) that my clients have entrusted me to freeze time and capture moments in their lives for them to keep.

8. Coke or pepsi…
Diet Pepsi all the way!

9. What’s your favorite type of location to shoot at?
I LOVE the grungy urban scene…old warehouses, buildings, & alleys! A close second would be grassy fields and old barns…kinda polar opposite I know.

10. What is your favorite time to shoot?
Hands down the late afternoon, early evening starting about 6pm. The light is so pretty AND it’s not quite as hot!

And here are a few of Stephanie’s images. Thanks for introducing yourself to me Stephanie… and thankyou for all the help you’ve given me with my course assingments!!!

When I decided to do this guest photographer thing, I didn’t realize I’d meet such amazing women. These last few months have really opened my eyes to the business side of photography and showed me that it is ok to make friends with other photographers in the area. I originally felt that the competition factor would cause too much conflict, but meeting these women has actually been an amazing experience for me. Being able to talk shop with them has taught me soo many things. With that… I introduce to you Kristen Ashford of Lilly Love Photography.

1. Tell us a little about yourself.
I’m Kristen. I’m originally from the Clarksville area. I’m an Army wife and have one daughter and 3 cats. I <3 photography, music, and the arts in general.

2. How do you describe your style?
Very laid back. I definitely prefer more lifestyle/candid photos. I typically stick to fairly clean edits and timeless black & whites.

3. What do you shoot with/what’s in your bag?
I shoot w/ Canon. I have a 7D, and my Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 is my go-to lens. I also have a 50mm f/1.8, 35mm f/2, and a Lensbaby Control Freak. I prefer natural light, but I do have a speedlite in case of emergencies!

4. If you could shoot for one day with a famous photographer, who would you choose?
Probably Zack Arias. If you had asked me 2 months ago, my answer would be different, but after seeing ZA in a webinar a few weeks ago, I feel like there is SO much that I could learn from him.

5. What’s your favorite food?
Tiramisu…and any salad with Newman’s Own Low Fat Sesame Ginger dressing would be a very close second!

6. On estimate how many images are in your galleries?
My website says at least 20, but I usually average 30 or more edits in a gallery.

7. What fuels your passion for photography?
I feel like photography, if done well, is truly a gift that you give to people. I know it might sound weird, but it absolutely makes my day when I receive an email from a client or a comment from a stranger saying that my work brought a tear to their eye. I feel like everyone deserves to possess an image of their family or loved one that moves them.

8. Favorite color?
I don’t really have A favorite, but I love pink and green together.

9. Do you have any hobbies outside of photography?
I used to have several! Community theatre, music, etc. Now my main hobby outside of photography is crochet. I crochet pretty much every newborn/baby hat that I’ve used for photo sessions, and I recently started spinning my own yarn for newborn hats. I would definitely love to get back into playing cello in the near future!

10. What is your favorite time to shoot?
Evening. The light is so much warmer and prettier a couple of hours before sunset!

Kristen came along with me on a maternity session one afternoon and here are a few of the images she captured from the day. She is a wonderful photographer and you will not be disappointed with her work! Thankyou for joining me Kristen!
